Pats find retribution
Time heals just about all wounds? Don't inform that to the Regina Taps.
Although more than more effective months and 20plus games have passed because the Pats were coldly jettisoned from the WHL playoffs through the Swift Current Broncos, your wounds are still fresh.
That was apparent in Sunday night while Regina dominated Swift Existing in their first assembly of the season, posting a 51 win ahead of 4,327 spectators on the Brandt Centre. As an extra bonus, the Taps (13613) leapfrogged the Broncos and Saskatoon Blades for first place from the East Division. Quick Current and Saskatoon still have two games available. "This is only one game towards them we have seven more but you want to acquire some revenge."
Quick Current's Keegan Dansereau and Regina's Brett Leffler traded goals in a relatively mindful opening frame, yet things started to unwind in the second period courtesy of some highlightreel material from the two Nike air jordan. Eberle danced into the slot as well as dropped the puck off and away to Weal, who quickly sent it back to Eberle in his way to the world wide web, slipping a low shot past Travis Yonkman.
Eberle went from scorer to playmaker on a subsequent twoman advantage when his crosscrease pass found MacAngus to have an easy tapin. MacAngus also were built with a glorious opportunity to set Regina up 41, yet he missed a receptive net from the doorstep with 15 seconds remaining in the second interval.
It didn't matter, anyhow.
Pats imports Tomas Hricina and Rudolf Cerveny transformed a pair of rebounds from the third period to change the game into a rout.
"I think we were lacking somewhat emotional intensity,Inch said Broncos assistant instructor Tim Kehler, whose crew was also without five regulars due to injuries. "Regina really came into this game appearing like they had some scarring from (last period) and also the fact that this is a game for to begin with in the division. These people seemed to have that attitude and that intensity regarding group which many of us weren't able to match away from maybe the first a few minutes."
It was the second straight victory through which Regina was able to set a dark tone against a smaller, faster opponent. The other would be a 42 win in Friday night in comparison to the Medicine Hat Dinosaurs.
"When you're playing little, quick teams it's all about body position when you don't have the puck," discussed Pats assistant coach Terry Perkins. "We did a great job regarding working our systems and working together, making turnovers. What added to that is I thought we would a great job of being bodily in both games. I not really know going into the weekend we really thought of our self as more of a physical team but when you assess yourself to those groups you realize it's an gain you can have and each of our guys did a great job of recognizing it."
The Pats were also stingy on defence, enabling just nine shots through two durations and 17 as a whole compared to 28 of their own. Yonkman, parajumpers rea, the hero regarding Swift Current's playoff drive last season, suffered their first loss of the growing season (5100). Regina's Linden Rowat, meanwhile, has however to lose a game throughout regulation time (7011).
